Fighter Mode: The Type 2's standard mode. A sleak, aerodynamic form capable of flight at mach speeds.
Battroid Mode: The Type 2's main combat mode. Not as fast as Fighter mode, but capable of making better use of terrain.

Weapon Data

Gatling Cannons: The early JAM fighters mounted a gatling cannon more powerful then the standard ones found on FAF fighters at the time. The cannon could be used in fighter and "battroid" modes.
Laser Turret: Copied from the cannons found on the VFF-31 Sylphids, Type 2s carry laser turrets capable of all-range fire. They can be used in fighter and "battroid" modes.
JAM Missiles: Type 2 JAM fighters are capable of carrying up to 12 of the JAM's special anti-air missiles, which are more powerful then the standard FAF ones.
Swarming Missiles: Type 2s carry 2 pods of 15 "swarmer" missiles, copied from the missiles used by the VFF-1 Fawn and VFF-31 Sylphid. While low-powered, the missiles are fast and are capable of hitting a target from multiple angles, effectively "swarming" the target.

Technical and Historical Notes

Soon after the initial attack, a new JAM airframe started appearing. Referred to as the "Type 2", they could transform between fighter and a humanoid mode. Type 2s completely surpassed the Earth forces at the time, however after researching a few downed Type 2s, the UN were able to begin developing their own high-performance transforming fighters.

While the Type 1 was phased out when FAF and UN fighters started becoming more powerful, the Type 2 instead was upgraded over time, matching the FAF aircraft at every turn. Whenever an upgrade was made to the FAF arsenal, soon afterwards the Type 2s would gain something similar, or a counter to it.
